I will be honest when HR said outbound training, I expected some cheesy trust falls and awkward icebreakers. But Gotezus low rope course man that thing terrified me. Im scared of heights like even a step ladder makes me sweat. My teammate Sanjay who sits on a different floor and Ive never said more than good morning to stood right under me the whole time calmly telling me where to put my feet. When I finally got down I almost cried. He just patted my back and said good job. That was six months ago. Now we get coffee together every week. The adventure circuit with zip line and rope walk was part of our leadership retreat. We have a very competitive executive team and everyone wanted to finish first. But the circuit required teamwork not speed. One of our VPs famously impatient had to wait for his teammate to finish a balance walk before he could proceed. He almost lost his mind then he started cheering her on. That moment shifted the whole dynamic of our offsite. We came back to work less siloed. The marshmallow spaghetti tower challenge is supposed to be for kids. But Gotezu turned it into an intense competition between departments. My engineering team thought we would win easily we know structures. We lost badly to HR because they actually communicated while we just argued. The facilitator didnt let us forget it.either he showed us video of our argument. Embarrasing but necessary. Now whenever our engineering team starts bickering someone yells marshmallow and we shut up and listen. Stupid but effective. Thanks Gotezu. ~ Diksha G
